Need advice: Two civic tech ideas - Which one scales faster with politicians and citizens?
I’m thinking of two ideas to improve elections in Kenya and I’d love your thinking on it.
Idea 1: Sauti Yangu A WhatsApp/SMS chatbot that helps voters check their polling station.
After that, it asks if they support a candidate. If yes, their number is saved.
Campaigns can see a live map of supporters and send reminders on daily during campaign and election day if allowed.
Idea 2: UHAKIKISHI A platform where citizens verify election results themselves.
After voting, polling stations display official results on Form 34A. Citizens take a photo with the app, which is geotagged and timestamped, creating an independent public record.
For people without smartphones, there’s a USSD option to submit results.
The system highlights discrepancies between official results and citizen submissions in real time.
I want to know From a scaling perspective, which of these would grow faster:
-
Among political parties and leaders?
-
Among ordinary citizens?
