Post Dural Puncture Headache

I (19M, 85kg) was in A&E after what I was told was a thunderclap headache and had a CT scan and lumbar puncture in order to rule out a subarachnoid haemorrhage as I had head trauma in September of last year.

My lumbar puncture was initially done by a junior doctor, until the senior registrar took over and completed it - while it was uncomfortable, it wasn’t painful until the needle was pulled out (sharp pain down the leg). It took a few times until they were able to collect the sample and I followed the instructions to lie down, avoid exercise or strenuous activity, have caffeinated beverages, etc.

I was prescribed 500mg naproxen and lansoprazole and have been taking as instructed.

10 days on, I am really struggling when standing or sitting for any more than 15 minutes, particularly in the front of my head and just behind the eyes. I’ve seen posts about blood patches, some saying that this is common in younger people and others saying that the pain will go away. I am waiting for a follow-up MRI, but if anyone could offer advice to help mitigate the pain or if it’s something I should approach the doctor about?

Thanks in advance!
