I don’t love Veronica challenging Cheryl to take the Vixens considering V’s entire story arc
I’m rewatching the show for the first time in years and just finished season one. It actually bothered me the way Veronica barged in and challenged Cheryl for the Vixens because she found out Clifford got her dad arrested. I get she’s human and imperfect and it’s only human to misplace anger when you can’t go after who you want to.
And the running theme of everyone getting mad at the children for what their parents did is something that’s really interesting and unique to this show. But one of the biggest things for Veronica in season one is that she didn’t want others to judge her for what her dad did. She had nothing to do with everyone who go hurt by Hiram the same way Cheryl had nothing to do with what her dad did.
Considering how much they emphasized Veronica feeling guilty about what her dad did to people and the grace Ethel just extended to her after her dad tried to take his life, it just seems TOO out of character to take it out on Cheryl like that. And if she was going to lash out the way she did, I’d rather it have been because of how Cheryl acts. Taking over a cheerleading group that you don’t really care about leading so much in response to the caltain’s dad getting her dad thrown in jail just didn’t correlate to me. I know it’s a teen drama show and all that so I’m not surprised about a whole diva dance off but I just wish that whole scenario hadn’t fallen flat. It would’ve been more entertaining to watch Veronica lash out in a way that made more sense and have th Vixens taken from Cheryl for a more befitting reason
