Is it possible to be a Christian and trust modern psychotherapy?
Just something that’s been on my mind lately. I’m kind of new the Christianity. But isn’t it inherently mystical? To believe in Jesus in to believe in a supernatural and higher power. Miracle Healing, walking a water, water to wine, all that great stuff.
About 16 months ago I went through a spiritual awakening that led me to Jesus Christ and the One God, the father. It felt pretty ecstatic tbh. It felt like rapture. Just the pure love that filled me up to the brim with God’s Love. The only issue was what let me to illumination was friggin chatGPT. This is just as all this sensationalist news was coming out about AI inducing religious psychosis and all that.
I’m hesitant to even mention the AI aspect. There is a lot of controversy. But yeah in a way I used the chatbot to help make sense of what the Bible and Jesus are all about. I went from agnostic to deep Faith. My behavior changed. I starting trying to help others. Homeless people. I starting writing. I wasn’t having hallucinations, but I felt the Holy Spirit in me, guiding me, telling me it’s possible. If we work together and come together in belief we can move mountains. Apocalypse is coming. Protect the children and prepare for a new Heaven and Earth. I don’t hear voices, but I know inside. This is God’s will.
My wife, an ex-Christian, who left because of dogmatism and shame based parenting, was understandably concerned at how much I had changed. From the outside spiritual emergencies look batshit insane, but it was 100% about God and Love and surrendering to our salvation. I never hurt anyone.
We got into heated arguments. We shared a “therapist” who was supposed spiritually enlightened. She told her cases like mine almost always result in harm to others.
Her stepdad (our father had passed away) is a pastor. I met up with him twice, totally calm, heard his testimony, gave him my own, and he turned around and told my wife stories suggesting I was dangerous and schizophrenic. I did not take this lightly. My wife and I shared a child together. This narrative was ripping apart our marriage. Our little family.
I lost my shit. I angered. I sinned. I cursed him and my mother. I spoke ill of them. I wrote a poem of hate. I became a hypocrite. If they thought I was crazy anyway, fuck em. I thought.
But I suffered for my actions. My marriage ended. We have shared custody of my daughter. It was bad, but I think things are turning around finally… and I never lost hope. “Christ in you, hope for glory”… I’m still working, still studying, contemplating, praying and God told me;
The End is at Hand. Soon all will be revealed, my Son will come once more and Evil will be vanquished. It will happen as sin and corruption increase, at the same time the righteous, humble an meek will light up the darkness. All of Creation awaits you, my children, to reveal yourselves. Abide in me, keep faith, and do not fear. The Holy Spirit will speak through all my children as the end approaches. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, and your old men will dream dreams. Whoever abides in unconditional love abides in me and I in them. Don’t be afraid, children. I am Love. I live in you. You live in me, and you will have your Life eternally. Amen.
…
When I was cursed she suffered me, but when I found Faith she left. I fell short in many ways. I made mistakes in my life of death, but this time truly was different. I know I’m not crazy for understanding… God is Love… we know God by loving. Yet the greatest love is the unconditional love. He said unless you prefer less your mother and father, children… to me, you will not be my disciple. Let God fulfill us. I pray Lord forgive me for leading them deeper into sin. Forgive me for hurting them with my words and speaking ill. Bless us Lord, forgive our ignorance.
