How often should a normal person burp? How often do you burp??
Hello, all. I found this subreddit after searching about why lying on my left side makes me nauseous despite everyone saying those with reflux should find relief by doing that exact thing.
Now I'm questioning my entire life. It's not like I absolutely never burp, but I don't burp often. Honestly, I'd say I could use my fingers to count the number of times I burp per year. Is that normal or not?? The few times I do burp or belch, it's almost always after drinking something very fizzy or after bending my body in some way, like sitting or bending over. Often times when I feel like I need to burp, I will get what seems like a hiccup instead. It's usually just one singular hiccup. And honestly it doesn't really bring any relief. I don't usually experience any gurgling noises in my throat or anything like that. I do experience chest and throat pressure that's at times painful, and I'm prone to what I have always assumed was reflux. However, my esophagus is always in perfect health when I've gotten endoscopies. Could the pressure of gas be a similar pain to heartburn/reflux? I've always dealt with bloating, but I assumed that was due to PCOS and IBS. But I remember a long time ago, back in 4th grade, thinking that my stomach made me look pregnant. So clearly the bloating has been a long-term issue, as that was nearly 20 years ago.
Not sure if I'm barking up the wrong tree, here. I would be grateful if anyone would be willing to tell me if these things are at all similar to what you e experienced, or if you think what I'm describing sounds "normal" or not. I have a follow-up with a GI soon (recently had another endoscopy and it was normal), and I'm just feeling a bit discouraged because I feel like something is wrong, but my tests always indicate otherwise.
Sorry for the novel, and thank you in advance for any replies.
