Help picking G0? (FAQ read + asked in mini-thread
Last night I had a major breakthrough that has thrown my entire application into question.
I have two Canadian born great great grandfathers. I have been pursuing one born in New Brunswick in the 1840s who had no birth records but a pretty substantial paper trail otherwise and a relatively straightforward line of descent in the male line up to my mother. Last night, however, I discovered the Drouin baptismal record for my other, Quebec born great-great grandfather.
Now I'm wondering if I should go forward with that because it's a much stronger individual record, however it has some issues. While census records and death records routinely record him being born in Canada, he claimed to be born in Michigan on the birth record of my great grandmother and that's a pretty vital link in this chain. Also, if I'm understanding correctly I would need to pay $350 for the certified copy of this record from the BANQ?
I'm really torn about this because I was basically ready to submit previously.
