Human-Only Platform Critique
Preface: I do not think human only platforms are inherently bad, but I think the immediate creation and marketing of so many all of a sudden could be trying to take advantage of artists just as much as other platforms.
The constant bombardment of all music promotion and other related subreddits with human-only music services is a way for developers to ride off of an anti-AI platform which most artists support while garnering a user base of likeminded individuals for offering sometimes little to no service or implementation. Sometimes even being questioned in the comments about how they would implement no AI policies and oftentimes not having genuine answers. Logically it is impossible for these developers to scam all music coming onto their platform and many of them haven’t implemented systems for detection it is very hard to trust they aren’t just using you for growing their platform.
There is also a hurtle that most of them ignore, bandcamp. They just happen to not notice that it exists in any capacity and plug their ears to an extent to other AI disallowed platforms. It feels especially purposeful to ride this anti AI “music” behavior in an already desperate world of musicians who are working to be seen in any way they can.
