Left-click mapping question

I want to assign the left click function on my mouse to a key on my keyboard, but I don't have a dedicated numpad on said keyboard. My understanding is that the mouse keys function to turn 5 into a left click only works with a numpad.

Am I going to get banned for using my keyboard's downloadable software to assign one key to work as left click? It will still be a 1:1 assignment.
