Grace is much more of a badass than Leon. (Minor Spoiler)
After finally finishing Insanity, I’ve come to the conclusion that Grace is much more of a badass than Leon. Leon has that John Wick persona, but his skills are only as good as the player behind the controller. I’m not some pro player or a speedrunner, I’m just a veteran lover of the series.
Poor Grace! She’s gone through as much trauma in this short span as Leon has in 30 years. You can hear it in her voice how much the entire scenario leading up to >!Elpis!< affects her. Then she finally gains that confidence after learning >!she isn’t the cause... she’s the cure.!<
I played through Insanity without any infinite ammo, just the Kotetsu knife. Honestly, I never really used it outside of stabbing it through a zombie’s neck. I found it more annoying to use because I felt like I had to go get it back every time, which just made it feel like a chore. I think playing on Insanity is as close to "real life" as you can get. In real life, one bite from a zombie and you’re dead. That’s how it feels on Insanity. Every move you make needs to be articulated with care. I don’t care about careless exploits to skip encounters; I was immersed entirely.
Every time I played Leon, I actually dreaded it. I was always scarce on ammo and on my last green herb. I had to monitor my hatchet health as if it were Leon’s actual health. It’s all about perfect parries, and no matter how good you are, you can still get taken out by instant kills. I know the game basically tells you to play Insanity with enhancements. I have some basic ones, but nothing infinite. I’m eventually going to do a "rage play" once I have infinite ammo just for revenge, but right now I want to enjoy the journey. So yeah.... Grace is much more badass in my opinion and far more fun to play on Insanity.
