The Absolute Basics/Lets talk shop Pt. 2: Whats in a name.

Part Two: Whats in a name.

Alright moving this train along. In theory, you should be a toy, who has just finished doing their billion simples and have gone thru every letter in the alphabet. You know how to make every letter as simple as possible. If you are this person, continue reading. If your are not at this point yet, continue reading anyways, but reread this again later when you do reach that plateau.

This is for the guys who have not yet chosen a name, and when I say chosen a name, I mean one you know for sure is going to stick too. Most toys go thru names like celebrities go thru marriages. One of the most important things when considering a name is the letter combination. You think that would go with out saying but sometimes you can find a name that sounds cool but the letter combination is absolute ass. Of course every writer is different, so what might not work for someone else could probably work for you.

Surround yourself with words. Find something that tickles your fancy and write it down, start gathering a list, and try them out. If you find a word you like the sound of phonetically, but don’t like the letter combination, then that can be fix. For example the word Freak could be written Phreyk, Fire can be Phiya, Monster can be Monsta, Giant could be Gyent. Jump the hurdles you need to jump to get to the end result you want

If you have put the work in with simples and bars, you might have notice they you prefer certain letters to others. So list the ones you like the most, decide how many letters you want in your name. Is there a letter you like to end you name with?, Maybe you to exaggerate the kick of an R or a K so you like to put that near the end so you can have as much space as you want to do that. Maybe you like the way P and an H look together so you make it a priority to have that happen some where in your name. Make a few different combinations and try them out, if none them are really doing it for you then go back to the drawing board, it takes some time to find something that sticks.

Sometimes its possible to work with a word and as you do it, you may find you hate a letter in it and you might just decide to drop a letter or substitute it for a different letter. Maybe you Been writing HORSE for a while, but you find that you don't like the letter E. So you drop that to create HORS, and that becomes the name that sticks. Another example is you write TUES, but you don’t like S all that much and rather finish with a different letter. It is an option to just switch it with a different letter. Maybe an R (TUER) or an K (TUEK) or hey, how about a M or an N (TUEM, TUEN)

Finally, the last thing on your mind might be, “hey, does somebody use this name?” well guess what man, someone probably does, but don’t fret young buck. You can always do something that differentiate yourself from someone else if necessary. A quick and easy way to do this it is by adding a number. 4..7.. 97. You can also use your area code or you crew name. JUICE347 or JUICE YMJ. Maybe adding a letter in the name can be an option. JUICE can become JUYCE or JUICES. Do what you gotta do.

Now the exception is, if someone in your city or 100 miles around you city doing heavy work with the name you chose, then you are shit out of luck, my friend. Another thing that is ill advised, and will get you laughed at, is trying to use a name that belongs to a world wide king. You aint going far if you trying to go around you town rocking a name like SABER, BATES, SEEN, SANE, REVOK, and so on and so forth. It be best to avoid that.

any questions?
