In movies, you will get scenes where person gets the drop on person B, holding them at gunpoint. Then person C, friend of A, gets the drop on B, and B drops their gun

Does this ever play out in real life? If person C is a friend of A, and in theory cares for their survival, wouldn't person B be able to get person C to drop their guns even tho they have a gun pointed at them? ​
