I want to maintain a Space Factory. Possible ?

So I'm a new player and I want to build a space platform that acts like a space factory, delivering iron plates to Nauvis. I already built something like this, but I'm not satisfied with the output of the platform.

I'm currently using around 10 to 15 iron collectors, but there aren't enough asteroids to catch. Right now my platform is not moving and just hovers over Nauvis.

Do I simply need to travel further into space to find more asteroids? And can I send goods from anywhere in space back to Nauvis?

Or should I build the ship wider and try to use more collectors?

Or is my idea of a space factory simply not possible the way I imagined it?
