Is there a way to get a UK phone number without a SIM if you live in Ireland?
I’m (Irish citizen) currently living in Ireland and studying for my MSc while doing an internship. After I finish, I’m hoping to move to the UK for an entry-level role, ideally in cities like London, Manchester, Sheffield, etc.
When applying for jobs, I’ve noticed many companies seem to prefer candidates who are already based in the UK. And If they see an Irish phone number/location in irish city/town, I feel like they might assume I’m not local or that relocation could be an issue(Woyj some companies).
I do have family in the UK, so I can list a UK city or even a full address on my CV or applications. But my phone number is still Irish.
So I’m wondering if there’s a way to get a UK phone number without physically getting a UK SIM card? Maybe something like a virtual number or an app?
Has anyone done this while living in Ireland when applying for UK jobs? Does it actually help with recruiters, or does it not make much difference?
