Cursed Print of the Wheatfield with Crows
Hello everyone. I just wanted to post about my experience to verify if anyone else has had a similar experience.
In 2005, I was very fortunate to have seen Vincent van Gogh's painting, 'The Wheatfield with Crows' in the Netherlands. I purchased a print of the the painting and displayed it in my bedroom.
I didn't think much of it at all but 2006 was a very challenging year personally and academically (I was a university student at the time). I thought that perhaps it was mere coincidence but looking into reports of van Gogh's state of mind when he painted the original 'Wheatfield with crows' I thought that perhaps it may have been the source of some of my challenges, or at the very least contributing to them. I removed the print and rolled it up and forgot about it.
My situation improved in 2007 both personally and academically. Perhaps it was a coincidence or not?
Last year -(2025) I found the print whilst I was going through some of my old things and thought about displaying the print in my office. I reasoned that an inanimate object cannot have such an influence over my life. I displayed it in my office but it kept falling down repeatedly despite using multiple thumb tacks. Perhaps this was a sign that I should not have displayed it? Eventually it stayed up and that was when the fun started....
I met with a serious car accident, my car was written off, but I was uninjured. A close relative and a friend of mine passed away in 2025. My friend was young and his death was unexpected. My two dogs died in a freak accident. My mom had to have a minor surgery and thereafter recovered well. I removed the print and rolled it up and put it away. Things got better after that.
Now, I know this could all be mere coincidence. But could there be some connection between this particular print of 'The Wheatfield with Crows' and this series of unfortunate events?
Just as an aside, I am a huge fan of Vincent Van Gogh and have other prints of his like 'Starry Night' and have had no issues with these prints. I am fascinated by his artwork and his life story.
Anyone else have an experience with this particular print or another painting or print or object perhaps?
Thank you for sharing your experiences and insights with me. It is greatly appreciated.
