Holy Mass pet peeves

Normal ba nga dunay mga pet peeve sa giunsa pag-conduct sa misa?

When we talk about pet peeves sa misa, we often talk about behaviors of churchgoers like mag-scroll sa cellphone, mag-tantrums, molabaw ang tingog, unnecessary gestures, etc.

On the other hand, talagsa ra kaayo ang discussion about sa conduct sa misa sa end sa mga pari, lector, ug psalmist, kay feel nako it's out of reverence para sa ila (hilabi nas mga pari nga they act in the person of Christ). O di gani i-guilt trip ta sa atong family members. Human as these people are, mopasaylo na lang tas ilang mga sipyat.

And I'm also aware that liturgical abuses exist. This is not to say nga ang ilang gibuhat are liturgical abuses themselves jud but there are occurrences nga makaguba ug dili kaayo giving sa sacred ug solemn nature sa misa. And those abuses and other occurrences happen most often in the Ordinary Form masses (English/Cebuano/Tagalog) kesa sa Extraordinary Form (Latin).

Share lang nako akong pet peeves:

1. Hinay or paspas kaayo molitok sa readings, prayers of the faithful, or other prayers nga basahon sa lectors, especially kung Binisaya ang misa. Understandable man nga care and reverence must be taken in proclaiming God's Word, but kanang hinay ra kaayo, mura man sad og makaduka paminawn (unless mga grade school ang kasagarang audience). There are other same lectors nga kung announcements gani kay mura bag normal ang pace sa ilang paglitok. And in rare instances, dunay paspas kaayo molitok.
2. Homilies nga pwerteng dugaya and/or mixed with entertainment. Depends on how the topic is delivered. Dunay ubang pari nga tuyok-tuyokon ang topic or daghang likoy nga topics, pero duna say uban nga concise kaayo pagka-deliver tas engaging pa ang topic. Mas maka-disengage kung daghang tuyok ug likoy, more so when it is verbose. As to entertainment, naay uban nga sagulag joke2x or secular nga kanta2x (dili intawn ni concert or comedy bar).
3. Repetitive psalm responses. Most often, kausa ra kantahon ang response except sa part nga before the first verse. But there are instances nga balikon depende sa kanta (i.e., kung before sa first verse kay mahulog nag kaupat kantahon ang response). What's the point nga binalik?
4. Daghang random adlib nga sulti sa misa. There is a priest nga hing-ana iyang style magmisa even outside of introduction, homilies, and announcements, plus tag-as kaayog intro og pasalamat with matching random nga sturya nga walay kalabot sa celebration.
5. Intermission numbers except for Sinulog dances and religious music. Again, dili tawn ni entertainment.
6. Saba nga Liturgy of the Eucharist. When supposedly this part should be the most solemn sa Holy Mass, there is another priest nga saba kaayo molitok og "Take this, all of you, and eat of/drink from it..."—mura bag nisinggit. Makatingala jud paminawn. Whereas kung Latin pa ni siya kay hunghong ra jud.
