I Built Multiple SaaS Platforms Using AI Instead of Hiring Developers — What Would This Have Cost Traditionally? Written by: AI Architect - Nicholas Philip Martino
Over the past year I’ve been building websites and SaaS products using Lovable, and it’s honestly one of the most interesting platforms I’ve worked with as an AI architect.
What makes Lovable different is that it allows someone who understands systems, workflows, and product architectureto actually build real software — without needing to be a traditional engineer writing thousands of lines of code.
Instead of coding everything manually, the process becomes more about:
• system design
• product architecture
• user flow logic
• AI interaction structure
• iterative refinement
In other words, the skill shifts from programming syntax to clear thinking and structured instruction.
That’s where AI architecture becomes extremely powerful.
Using Lovable, I’ve been able to design and build things like:
• full websites
• SaaS dashboards
• client intake systems
• AI workflow tools
• structured AI operating systems
One of the platforms I’m currently building is called Pearl Mind AI, which is designed to help consultants and operators run structured AI implementations for clients.
Another focus of my work through Custom AI Systems is building AI infrastructure for businesses — things like AI phone systems, client intake automation, and role-based AI workflows.
Lovable makes it possible to prototype and launch these systems incredibly quickly compared to traditional development.
But I’ve also realized something important:
The real challenge isn’t the technology.
The real challenge is thinking clearly enough to design the system in the first place.
AI builders who understand:
• workflow design
• operational structure
• human-AI interaction
• governance and boundaries
are going to have a massive advantage in this new generation of software development.
I’m curious if others here are building with Lovable or similar AI-assisted development platforms.
What kinds of systems are you working on?

...I’ve been building several projects using AI tools (mainly Lovable and AI assistants) instead of hiring developers or agencies.
Recently I started wondering what the actual market cost would have been if I hired a professional team to build everything I’ve made so far.
I asked for a realistic industry estimate assuming the work was done by top SaaS designers and developers, not cheap freelancers.
Here’s the breakdown.
What a Top Professional Team Would Charge to Build This
If a top SaaS design/dev agency or venture studio product team built everything I’ve described so far, they would price it as multiple products, not just a single website.
My ecosystem currently includes:
• Custom AI Systems company website
• internal AI workflow software
• Pearl Mind AI SaaS platform
• Minecraft gameplay SaaS platform
• social community infrastructure
• AI assistant systems
• dashboards, analytics, and automation tools
So it's essentially several software products combined into one ecosystem.
Below is the realistic pricing.
Custom AI Systems Website + Brand Infrastructure
Includes:
• marketing website
• landing pages
• lead generation
• integrations
• responsive design
• analytics
• visual branding
Professional agency price:
$40,000 – $75,000
If built by a high-end design studio:
$75,000 – $120,000
Custom AI Systems Internal Software Tools
This includes software like:
• client intake systems
• Beside configuration software
• AI workflow configuration
• client dashboards
• automation tools
This is basically internal SaaS software.
Typical cost:
$120,000 – $250,000
Advanced AI integrations:
$250,000 – $400,000
Pearl Mind AI SaaS Platform
Features include:
• AI workflow platform
• SaaS subscription model
• dashboards
• user accounts
• enterprise features
• governance systems
Typical SaaS build cost:
$150,000 – $350,000
Enterprise-level platform:
$350,000 – $500,000
Social Platform Infrastructure
Features include:
• user profiles
• social feed
• chat system
• media uploads
• discovery algorithms
• community moderation
Social features alone usually cost:
$80,000 – $200,000
AI Systems
My platforms include:
• AI coaching
• AI chat assistant
• AI copilot
• AI build generator
• world analysis tools
Estimated development cost:
$50,000 – $200,000
UX / Design System
Professional SaaS design work includes:
• design systems
• animations
• dashboards
• UX flows
• interaction design
Typical cost:
$20,000 – $80,000
Total Realistic Development Cost
If built traditionally by professionals:
| Component | Estimated Cost |
|---|---|
| Custom AI Systems website | $40k – $120k |
| Internal software | $120k – $400k |
| Pearl Mind AI SaaS | $150k – $500k |
| Minecraft SaaS | $250k – $1M |
| Social platform | $80k – $200k |
| AI systems | $50k – $200k |
| UX / design | $20k – $80k |
Realistic total
$710,000 — $2,500,000
That’s the true professional development cost.
What I Actually Spent Using AI Tools
Using tools like:
• Lovable
• AI assistants
• automation tools
My real cost is probably closer to:
$300
Maybe up to:
$750 including tools.
So AI reduced development cost by 98%+ !!!
Early Market Value of What I Built
Cost is not the same as value.
Startups are valued based on:
• product quality
• uniqueness
• market potential
• traction
• revenue
Right now these projects are in the early product stage, as I have little subscriber revenue, as I'm just beginning formal marketing attack efforts after putting forth heavy business development and design hours for computing and thinking.
That means they’re valued like most pre-revenue startups.
Typical Pre-Revenue Startup Valuations
Idea only
$0 – $100k
Prototype
$100k – $500k
Working product
$500k – $2M
Strong traction
$2M – $10M
Funded startup
$10M+
Realistic Current Market Value
Based on the stage these projects appear to be in:
$300,000 — $2,000,000
This assumes:
• working product demos
• clear product vision
• multiple SaaS ideas
• strong founder involvement
If These Get Traction
Example scenarios:
10k users
$2M – $8M
$10k monthly revenue
$5M – $15M
$100k monthly revenue
$20M – $50M+
The Key Insight
The cost of building software is no longer the main barrier.
The real value now comes from:
• distribution
• product adoption
• recurring revenue
AI tools just let founders reach the starting line much faster.
Honest Perspective
What I’ve essentially designed so far is the equivalent of multiple startups:
- Custom AI Systems consulting platform
- Pearl Mind AI SaaS platform
- Minecraft productivity SaaS platform
Question for Other Founders
For those building with AI tools now:
Do you think AI-assisted SaaS building will make solo founders much more common, or do you still think traditional dev teams will dominate?

I would be nowhere without this platform! Also, you may hire me, and ask me for help with lovable.dev, as I'm an AI architect and master at communicating with LLM, such as how one uses (mainly), lovable.dev, to create for them their ideas from lovable's magic computer operating sequences for it's users!
I will be able to guide you into the worlds best version of your idea, I can promise you it will turn out better than you would've envisioned it beforehand!
Thanks team/founders/owners/devs @ lovable.dev !

...credits are priced fairly, but I warn you...
...inexperienced LLM users will end up spending a fortune on credits to make their ideas come to life, and people like me, ai consultants and ai architects, know how to use LLM best, and this in turn makes lovable.dev very affordable for us such users.
It's all about how precise, efficient, informational, directive, and linearly logical one communicated with lovable.dev 's ai coding platform.
Rookies can end up spending hundreds of dollars on credits, that might take me or another architect, only 5 or less credits, realistically.
I subscribe to lovable.dev pro subscription tier, and the included credits get me through the month just fine usually.
An occasional top-up might be needed, but I'm good at keeping things in tune for me.
I spend $50 a month to be able to build with lovable.
I made, in two months for $100, what a professional consultancy and developing and design firm of web designer/developer's would've charged over $1M million dollars as my post begins by saying:
"Realistic total:
$710,000 — $2,500,000
That’s the true professional development cost."

I'm happy about this valuation of costs.
Guess I saved some scratch then, didn't I?
Indeed I did!
