[m4A] The History Museum
Ethan Maddox is a preppy attendant at the Metropolitan History Museum. They opened just last week and there's already been missing persons reports of both staff and tourists. They hope the unveiling of more displays will keep the press off their backs in the coming weeks but with everyone dropping like flies, who can say...
Truth is, the museum is cursed. (No, not the 'the mummy's alive!' type.) Well, it has to be! The board received a series of letters threatening dire consequences should the museum open. It was the usual spiel of the items not belonging in the hands of colonisers (which Ethan is at least sympathetic to), that history should be learned and passed down through the culture it belongs, lived experience, not gawked at behind sheets of glass like some exotic novelty act.
And yep, it cursed them. The items, the building, the staff themself, who can say. It was after all just the empassioned ramblings of an activist, right?
Wrong. Everyone affiliated with the museum, even those early unwitting guests, has been cursed to transform over time into an archetype from any given point in history, based on the exhibits and displays at the museum. Their appearance, personality, sensibilities, even overall worldly knowledge will be that of the archetype they embody. They'll still know deep down who they were and what they SHOULD know but they'll have to live with the stinging humiliation of not knowing what a phone or computer is, being spooked by cars, affronted by modern clothing. A fish out of water basically.
In Ethan's case, given his disposition, I'd love for him to become something like a Roman or Greek gladiator, a Viking, a Highland warrior or even a caveman. The bigger the contrast and more unrecognisable the endgame the better. Especially if he struggles to communicate in modern English.
Whether he'd be forced to live his days in this form, become a display mannequin by day or be whisked back to his respective era is something we can definitely iron out in time (eyy!).
From you I'd be looking for someone to play this so-called activist who cursed the museum; maybe infiltrating like a security guard to get a front row seat to the changes, or being some sort of god or vengeful mage from a past era.
Anyone interested can reach me through chat on here. All I ask is some effort - I've put effort into this prompt so a short 'hi' will get you ignored and/or blocked.
