Should I replace my iPhone X battery or upgrade to iPhone 12 as a student?
Hi everyone,
I’m a student and currently using an Apple iPhone X that I’ve had for about 4 years. Honestly, the phone still performs well for my daily use — the camera, performance, and overall experience are still pretty solid for me. The only real issue right now is the battery life.
So I’m stuck between two options:
Option 1: Replace the battery
Replace the battery of my Apple iPhone X and keep using it for another 1–2 years. This would cost much less, and I could save the rest of my money for something more important later — like a productivity laptop or PC by the end of 2026.
Option 2: Upgrade to iPhone 12
Upgrade to a used Apple iPhone 12. This would give me a newer device with better performance, camera improvements, 5G, and probably longer software support. But it would use most of my savings.
My situation:
• I’m currently a student with limited income.
• My main goal is to save money for a good laptop/PC for productivity (coding, design, etc.) within the next year or so.
• My current phone still works fine except for the battery.
From a long-term and financial perspective, what would you recommend?
Is upgrading to Apple iPhone 12 worth it right now, or is replacing the battery on my Apple iPhone X the smarter decision?
I’d really appreciate advice, especially from students or people who’ve faced a similar decision.
Thanks!
