Hello! I am seeking advice regarding an issue with a battery replacement supplied by a Hyundai dealer.

I own a Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid 2017. Recently I purchased a 12V battery replacement from an authorised Hyundai dealer, specifically because I wanted to ensure the correct OEM battery specified by the manufacturer was installed.

The first battery supplied was presented as a Hyundai OEM battery rated at 450 CCA. However, within a few days the car began experiencing issues. I tested the battery and it measured only around 80 CCA, which indicates a faulty battery. I returned to the dealer and explained the problem.

The dealer replaced the battery, but instead of providing another battery, they installed an aftermarket battery (Platinum Prestige, 44Ah, 380 CCA). This battery does not match the original manufacturer specification stated in the vehicle manual and it is also not performing reliably.

My concern is that:

	•	I paid a Hyundai dealer expecting the correct OEM battery for the vehicle.

	•	The replacement battery is not OEM and has lower specifications.

	•	The battery currently installed does not appear to perform properly either.

I would prefer to resolve this matter amicably, however I would like to understand my rights under Irish consumer law, particularly whether I am entitled to:

	•	The correct OEM battery as specified by Hyundai, or

	•	A refund for the battery supplied.

I would appreciate guidance on how best to proceed.

TIA.
