Anyone else here got OCD (the Pure O kind)?
Finally got into therapy with someone who understands autism and ADHD and was told I also have OCD. It's the internalized version, not the external one (I don't have any external rituals, just mental ones). Aka Pure O. Obsessional thoughts.
My two obsessions are diagnostic and moral. So that means I'm constantly doubting the diagnoses I have and thinking I have other ones (checking myself for symptoms all the time). I am also checking constantly to see if I've been honest enough with myself and other people, to the point that I monitor my own thoughts for lies to myself. It's extremely frustrating. Part of the problem here is that the OCD makes me think I don't have autism or ADHD and that all my symptoms can be explained by the OCD--you can see how endless the cycle of checking would be.
Anyway, I know OCD is more common in autistic people than the general population, so I figured someone here could relate. I am terrified of taking medication since I am very, very sensitive to medication (just like everything else). If anyone has overcome OCD without medication, I'd love to hear your advice. Thanks!
