FPS issue

Hi guys, sorry if this sounds like a dumb question but i recently got a pc and it has a 4060 gpu and a i5 12400f cpu and when I tried to play siege (low graphics) it would drop down to 70-80 frames, however turning up the graphics it bumps up to around 120. my friend who has a 3060 and the same cpu says his game runs around 150. any theories on why this is? sorry i’m pc dumb but he suggest maybe buying a new cpu would help since he thinks its holding the pc down
