My cat is broken. So I read scientific papers and built her a game
Every cat game on the App Store? She walked away. Didn't even blink. I tried all of them.
So naturally, I did what any reasonable cat owner would do - I went down a rabbit hole of research papers on cat vision, sound perception, and prey-hunting behavior, and then built my own game from scratch😁
Here's what I actually built in:
🐾 Classic game modes — mouse, string, laser, and a bunch of other things
🎨 Colors tuned for cat vision — cats see the world differently than us (more blue/green, less red), so I adjusted the whole palette based on actual research
🔊 Sound feedback that matches frequencies cats respond to — not the generic "bloop" sounds every other app uses
🐭 Physics-based movement — the mouse moves like prey actually would, or at least more realistically
🎮 Phone-as-controller mode — you control the mouse from your phone while your cat plays on the tablet. Still in development, but honestly I enjoy it as much as she does
🦦 3D realistic animal models mode — still experimenting with different animals, but my cat is weirdly into it. She mostly just watches, which I didn't expect — turns out not every interaction has to be a hunt
🌿 Nature video streaming — curated nature videos that play continuously, no pausing, no skipping, no ads. Just birds, squirrels, and rustling leaves. Safe background enrichment for when you’re not home
She actually plays it. I'm still shocked.
But before I release this publicly, I want to know:
What would YOU want from a cat game?
What did every existing app get wrong for your cat?
Drop it below, I'm genuinely building this and your input goes straight in 🐾
