Has anyone cosplayed before or have advice for starting out?

I'm crafty and i have some tailoring skills and i can hand sew. I'm thinking about making a fem strahd cosplay in the distant future. I'm starting to put together ideas. if you have any advice or any cosplayers you'd recommend who taught you a bit please share.
