Which is better for CS + PR — Netherlands public unis (Twente/Groningen) or Germany private unis (SRH/IU) — Indian student, CBSE 79.25%, IELTS 7, 2 Canada rejections, 1 year gap?

Careers

Hey everyone, want real human opinions on my situation — here's everything:

my_qualifications

  • Indian, CBSE 79.25%, IELTS 7 bands
  • 1 year gap filled with 6-month diploma course
  • 2 Canadian student visa rejections (University of Winnipeg, rejected due to insufficient funds — documentation issue, not actual lack of funds)
  • Goal: BSc Computer Science → EU job → PR permanently
  • Budget: €15k/year tuition + separate €10–12k/year living = ~€25–27k/year total

Why Not Germany Public Unis? CBSE is 12 years — German public unis require 13. Studienkolleg is taught in German, no time for that. So I'm looking at Netherlands public unis (accept CBSE 12th directly) or Germany private unis.

Germany Private Uni Shortlist Got offer letters from GISMA and MDH — both seem wrong for CS (business school and media school respectively). My actual shortlist after research:

  • SRH Berlin — dedicated BSc CS, AACSB accredited, graduates at Tesla/Amazon/SAP, 6-month internship track, €9,600/year, accepts CBSE directly. Is the placement real or just marketing?
  • IU International — cheapest option (~€4,500/year tuition) but heavily online, CS reportedly discontinued once, cohorts very India-heavy. Anyone with first-hand experience?

Netherlands — Primary Target Public unis accept CBSE 12th directly, English-taught CS, strong EU tech market, 30% tax ruling, 5-year PR pathway. My targets in order: Twente → Groningen → Radboud → Maastricht → Fontys/THUAS (HBO backup). My 79.25% clears the 75% minimum at TU/e and Twente's grade requirements.

Housing is the big stress — 20,000+ room shortage nationally. Focusing on Enschede (€350–425/month) and Groningen (€400–500/month) specifically. Has anyone found housing in these cities recently as an international student? What actually worked?

Key Questions I Need Answered

  1. Netherlands vs Germany private uni — better ROI for CS + PR goal?
  2. SRH Berlin — do German tech employers actually respect it?
  3. IU International — is on-campus CS properly running right now?
  4. Netherlands housing in Enschede/Groningen — what platforms worked for you?
  5. Did prior Canada visa rejections affect your Netherlands IND or German embassy application?
  6. Is my plan solid — apply NL unis (May 1 deadline) + get SRH offer letter as backup + drop GISMA/MDH/NZ?
  7. Is Ireland worth adding given Dublin's tech hub status (Google/Meta/Microsoft EU HQs)?
