Stop Loss Management on Trading 212 - Stop getting Stopped out!
Hey all, I really struggled with setting and monitoring stops on Trading 212. I ended up getting stopped out of stocks without knowing it until I logged in and checked the notifications!
So I built a tool which syncs every 10 mins with my portfolio and clearly shows me my current position, current unrealised gain, current stop set and what gain/loss I'd get if the stop triggered. Obviously this can't account for slippage, but I've used it for a few days now and am loving it.
I also set up alerts so you get emailed if a stock moves close to your stop, you can then decide if you want to move it.
A few other cool things it can do - if you give it permission (when setting up your API Key at trading 212) it can actually place the stops for you, also in bulk so you can set stops up on several stocks at once.
I put AI in there to provide an analysis/recommendations on stops, based on things like cyclical nature, volatility etc but I don't fully trust AI with my money haha.
I also built a watchlist system which tracks a stock if you get stopped out, remembers your average price you paid for it and tracks when a good rebuy opportunity might be available.
Finally, I know a lot of people use 3rd party dividend trackers, so I built a feature where it just lists out all your dividend payments, shows you the top divi payers and sends you an alert when you get a payment.
Curious what others think — is this something people using Trading 212 would find helpful, or do you already manage stops another way?
