Does the uni you went to influence acceptance rate for postgrad?

How likely is it to get into a masters at Melbourne uni if you study somewhere like Swinburne, rmit, Deakin as opposed to having studied at Melbourne or Monash? Do they favour those due to their high reputation? Particularly in the science field. Even if I get a high GPA how likely am I to be considered in comparison? Did many of you guys study at different universities?
