What can we do to stop the DNC from coming to Boston?
Anyone else remember the hell Boston went through in 2004 when the DNC came to town?
The roadblocks, the endless searches of bags on the T? The supposed "benefits" that ended up costing the city millions of dollars? The promised catering and service jobs that never materialized? The millions that state and city taxpayer coughed up in police overtime?
And why the hell do we need this convention anyway? Lots of larger groups have virtual conventions, or hold the event in cities that are built around flashy tourism for large crowds, like Vegas.
The 60 member site search committee from the DNC is set to descend on Boston with demands that our taxpayers put them up for free in hotels, wine and dine them, and provide high level security - all so we can graced by an ever larger plague of locusts that will drain our funds like they did the last time.
We've got far better things to spend the taxpayer's dime on than entertaining a bunch of out-of-towners. Any ideas on what we can do to tell these bums to get their free ride someplace else?
