WOW: Beneath the Surface
On the outside, She seemed calm, collected, Not a wave in sight, A quiet sea waiting To meet the shore.
But beneath the surface, Currents twisted in the dark, An inamorata of darkness Luring her in, A tide threatening To pull her under.
Tangled in seaweed, Water filling her lungs in the depths, Swallowing her In moments of weakness.
Always teetering on the edge Between still water And storm clouds, Winds steering her toward darkness As the pressure of the tides Grew stronger With each added responsibility.
She refused to let the world see, Hidden behind a practiced calm, Faint light shimmering above, While the waves tumbled Beneath the surface.
And she slowly sank Further into the depths she fought, While above her The sea remained calm Not a wave in sight.
