Can 25W Wireless charging keep up with 45W Wired fast charging?
There’s a lot of confusion around this, so here’s a simple breakdown.
25W wireless (Qi2 25W) is currently the fastest mainstream magnetic wireless standard. With proper alignment and compatible devices, it can deliver noticeably faster top-ups than older 7.5W or 15W wireless chargers. For daily use, desk setups, or quick boosts during the day, it finally makes wireless charging feel practical instead of just convenient.
That said, 45W wired charging is still faster overall. A direct cable connection is more efficient because there’s less energy loss compared to wireless power transfer. If you’re trying to go from 10% to 70% as quickly as possible, wired will usually win.
Here’s how it plays out in real life:
- Speed: 45W wired > 25W wireless
- Convenience: 25W
- wireless > wired Heat & efficiency: Wired is generally more efficient
- Everyday desk use: Wireless is cleaner and cable-free
So which should you use?
If you need the fastest possible charging before heading out, go wired. If you prefer a clutter-free setup and still want solid speed without plugging in, 25W wireless is finally powerful enough to make sense.
