Yes, I am the one in the first pic.

let me clear this up, I went to rishikesh specifically to try bungee jumping for the first time.

It was a two-day trip from Bengaluru. Friday-Monday.
Went in the month of March.

Bungee jumping has always been in my checklist and I felt the sudden urge to scratch it off from the list.

Trip plan:

Day-1: flight from BLR-DED (Jolly grant airport)
Arrived at around 3:30 pm, took a pre booked cab from the airport to tapovan, rishikesh. It costed 1000 rs. for the cab and took 40 min to reach. (It was a fair price apparently)

I stayed at Zostel, Tapovan in a 4-sharing dorm. Costed 750 per night. The hostel was good enough for the price. It also has a roof-top cafe which hosted jamming sessions at night (one of the unexpected highlights of the trip). They also streamed world cup finals on the screen and it was a delight to watch it together.

For women: the hostel is safe. the reception's library also keep a stock of pads which are free to use.

Rented a scooty to go in and around rishikesh from zostel itself. Costed 500 per day. Went straight to Janki Setu to spend the evening.

NOTE: Janki Setu and Ram jhula is within a walkable distance from zostel - 2.0km (you don't need to rent a scooty for it)

I read from reddit that Shatrughan Ghat offers a peaceful ganga aarti when compared to triveni ghat which is usually crowded. And it was delightful!!

Tip: park your scooty at Janki Setu (it offers a free parking) and walk till Shatrughan Ghat ~ 1 km.

The pavements and the street of Janki setu are well lit for people who want to walk during the night. Yes they are safe.

I later went to gurudwara which is 3km from Janki setu. Had langar at night and ended the day with jamming that started at 10:30 pm and lasted till 1 am.

Day-2: I booked bungee jumping from Jumpin heights website. It costed 3700 + 900 for the video. The video is amazing. The height is 83 m. I chose jumpin heights over Himalayan bungy (which has fall height of 117 m) because of the view. Himalayan bungy is a basically a concrete jungle. The bungee jumping site is 17 km from zostel. You can go via scooty (trust me the ride is amazing!) or there is a pickup and drop service at 9.15 am and 12.15 from the jumping heights office that is 100 m from zostel. The service costs 500 rupees extra. When you are riding yourself please use Google maps as there aren't enough boards on the road to guide you. It takes around 45 min to reach the venue.

NOTE: it's closed on Tuesdays

Bungee experience:

Let me clear this up. Yes it is safe! They also use an extra harness for additional safety. Based on the weight, the harness is chosen. You are briefed with a video and safety standards. You also get a badge and a certificate when you complete the jump.

And here comes the jump. The freefall lasts only 3.5 seconds. You can feel the adrenaline pumping. It's an experience of a lifetime. When you look down from the spot, you only see a river flowing. Yes, you question your life choices. But once you are on air, that's when you feel the thrill. You get to experience the force of gravity pulling you. You will really know how much is 9.8 m/s². Try it atleast once!

once you finish the jump, it's a short trek of 15 min back to the main office where you enter their cafe. They offer you a badge that says "Ive got Guts" and a free water bottle to quench your thirst. You can choose to buy the video after having a look at it.

After that I went for Rafting which also was good experience. Costed 800 per person for 8km. You can book rafting from zostel itself. They pick you up to the location and drop you for free.

I was in a mood for more swimming, so I went to this place called the secret waterfall. Which is just 3km from zostel. There was very less crowd and the water looked so fresh. It was peaceful for an evening swim.
I then headed back to the hostel, to watch the match.

Day-3: I had breakfast in this cafe called "Ira's kitchen" the view is really good. It's just 100 m uphill from zostel. Then I went near Ram jhula to visit the ganga beach. It was a bit crowded.

Tip: if you're looking for a peaceful lone time at the corner of the river, once you cross the paid parking of ram jhula, there is a small entry point written on the wall saying "way to ram jhula" in hindi, pointing downstairs. The sign is very small and written on the wall. You need to go downstairs. And you will reach the location that's there in the last pic.

I had a flight scheduled at 3.30 pm so I headed back to the airport at 1 pm. I had taken the contact of the cab driver on day-1, I called him to to pick me up from the hostel. Turns out it was good call, uber usually don't get booked swiftly.

This was my trip. So for a two night stay it costed 1500 and two day scooty costed 1000 + 200 for petrol. Food was almost free as most of the time I went to gurudwara, hehe.

Enjoy!
