Show r/rust: portman β TUI port manager that auto-detects your dev frameworks (Next.js, FastAPI, Spring, 30+ more)
Hey r/rust π
Built a TUI tool in Rust called portman β it shows all listening ports on your machine with the project name, framework, language, and PID. You can kill processes directly from the UI.
What makes it different from just running lsof:
- Auto-detects 30+ frameworks (Next.js, Vite, FastAPI, Django, Spring, Cargo, etc.) via CLI patterns + directory markers
- Shows the actual start command (e.g.
bun run dev, cargo run) by walking the process tree - Fuzzy search with
/ - Filter tabs by language β only shows languages currently running
portman pscommand for a netstat-like overview of all TCP ports- ~1MB binary, zero runtime deps, macOS & Linux
Under the hood it makes exactly 3 subprocess calls (lsof twice + ps), parallelized β full scan in ~200ms.
Install:
brew install bahadiraraz/tap/portman
# or
cargo install portman

Would love feedback, especially on the framework detection logic. Happy to answer any questions!
