Therapy and the current war in Iran
In my last few sessions, I have been talking about my thoughts and feelings regarding America's attack on Iran, mostly how frightening and pointless it all is. I believe Trump is a monster, and even though taking out the ayatollah is a good thing, Trump is causing destabilization on a global scale. And I think he really doesn't know what he and administration don't know what they are doing.
My therapist's response was a bit odd. What she said sounded like she was trying to school me on what us dumb Americans don't understand about what is happening in the Mideast. I could be wrong, but something about her tone led me to think that my therapist is somehow OK with this war. That's an ideological difference that I find to be extremely disconcerting.
We have been working together for many years. I have brought up my politics a lot over that time, and now it seems she is letting her own views bleed into our conversation.
I want to ask her flat out what her actual views are, just so I can be clear on just who I am dealing with. But my guess is she won't tell me. She has never been one to share any personal details, and I have kept from asking her. But this I want to know.
I would like to hear your thoughts on this; please don't get political or attack me for my views. I am just trying to figure out how to deal with this.
