What got you into reading dark romance?

Just curious how everyone got into this genre. I read the typical 50 shades of grey in highschool and would read Wattpad stories but most my life Ive usually favored fantasy,horror,true crime,and classics. I really only got super into dark romance the past 2 years. After being a sahm for several years and having a very vanilla bedroom life, I stumbled upon some dark romance recs on TikTok and I’ve been obsessed ever since. Its helped me out of a long rut in my life. For a long time I felt like nothing more then a mom/maid but now I’m finally starting to feel like a woman again even if it’s only within the pages of a book for a little while.
