Extreme sensitivity to temp after crown yesterday, is this normal?

Yesterday got a crown in. Afterwards that entire side of my cheek hurt. Definitely felt a lot of sensitivity I imagine was irritated nerves. This general mouth pain even when not eating got slowly better but still bad enough that I took an ibuprofen 800 at night.

Woke up in the morning and pain is still there but a lot better. Maybe a 1-2/10 just in the background if I’m thinking about it. but I’m still having a lot of sensitivity to temp. Like if I drink cold water and let it get to the tooth it’s pain that makes my entire upper left side of my mouth hurt almost. When I bite there is no pain.

The dentist is a close friend of mine so I don’t want to be an overly annoying whiny patient. But this is like more significant mouth pain than I’ve ever had. I can avoid that tooth easily enough so I can wait it out
