DOTA2 terminology in russian

Article

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to put together a comprehensive list of Russian slang, hero nicknames, and tactical callouts used in Dota 2 and translate them into English.

Playing on EU servers, it's super helpful to understand what CIS teammates are communicating on voice chat, but a lot of the terms are obscure metaphors, animal names, or old Dota 1 references that don't make sense if translated literally.

Here is what I have gathered so far:

  • Slardar: Seledka (Hering) or Riba (Fish).

  • Skywrath Mage: Petuh (Rooster).

  • Shadow Shaman: Rasta or Kuritsa (Chicken/Hen).

  • Spirit Breaker: Bara (from Barathrum) or Korova (Cow).

  • Anti-Mage: Magina or AM.

  • Nature's Prophet: Furion or Fura.

  • Lifestealer: Naix or Guli (from Ghoul).

  • Phantom Assassin: Mortra or PA.

  • Silencer: Salo (Lard/Fat—a phonetic joke on his name).

  • Night Stalker: Balanar or Balik.

  • Enigma: Dira (Hole—referring to Black Hole).

  • Faceless Void: Voyd or Kupol (Dome—referring to Chronosphere).

  • Sniper: Ded (Grandpa).

  • Hoodwink: Belka (Squirrel).

  1. Items - Nicknames and Transliterations
  • Black King Bar: BKB or Bekabe.

  • Scythe of Vyse: Hex or Geks.

  • Blink Dagger: Dager, Blink, or Saka.

  • Shadow Blade: Lothar (old name from Dota 1).

  • Daedalus: Buriza (old name).

  • Radiance: Radik.

  • Heart of Tarrasque: Taraska.

  • Linken's Sphere: Linka.

  • Maelstrom: Mael or Molotki (Hammers).

  • Aghanim's Scepter: Aganim or Scepter.

  • Courier: Kura.

  • Town Portal Scroll: TP (Te-pe).

  1. Tactical Terms (Calls)
  • Davai: Attack / Go forward!
  • Nazad: Back / Retreat.
  • Katka: Match / Game.
  • Fid / Fider: Feeding / The one who dies a lot.
  • Baybek: Buyback.
  • Rax: Barracks.

What I need from you: What are some other common Russian nicknames for heroes, items, map locations, or tactical calls that I should add to my list? I'm especially looking for funny metaphors, obscure spell names, or old Dota 1 names they still use on voice comms.

Thanks in advance!
