How to be a better forward for futsal?
I started playing futsal a few months ago (M14), and this is my first experience with any sort of ball sport. I do cross country and swimming but that’s about it for sports. I joined the school’s futsal team under a recommendation from a friend since it’s “just for fun”, and I really enjoy the sport.
My coach normally puts me as winger or striker, but I’m always reserve or benched for the first half of the game. Everyone on my team has played for atleast a couple years, and I really want to improve and possibly be a starting player (Ik this is a stretch considering how behind I am compared to my team). I have no idea where to start, and frankly no one to ask because my only friend in the team transferred about a week after I joined and the captain absolutely hates me.
So my questions are:
- how do I improve as a striker/forward
- what positions should I put myself in when I’m on the field? My captain and my coach is always yelling at me to get in the right position when I was in the ‘right’ (where they told me to be) literally a second ago
- is it too late for me, alot of people say you have to start at 6-7 years old
Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, I’m really desperate to stay on the team
