How many more American men and women have to die to defend Israel’s security?
I was in my early 20s when 9/11 happened. I was living in Boston at the time, and I was stunned and angry. I believed the rhetoric that Islamic radical terrorists hated our way of life, hated our freedom, and wanted the Western world to be destroyed because they wanted a global Islamic caliphate. I even considered signing up for the military. My mother convinced me otherwise.
As I learned more about what happened in the months and years after 9/11, I realized that Americans was lied to, not just once but repeatedly. One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter. Let’s not forget the British considered George Washington and Thomas Jefferson enemies of the throne, which was the closest thing to being labeled as a terrorist back then. Now that René Good and Alex Pretti have been called terrorists, the word has lost all meaning.
America picked up where the British Empire left off. After Israel was given the holiest of all lands, the United States decided that we would back Israel's security unconditionally.
While we fought for our own sovereignty we organized dozens of coups in the Middle East, Latin America and in Europe. We did it with Iran in 1953. We backed a brutal dictator and even sent Iran a nuclear reactor and weapons grade uranium because we wanted them to fight against Communist Russia on our behalf.

For a long time, most Americans accepted the reality of being Israel’s big brother because we felt we were helping an underdog nation. The sad truth is that we gave Israel all the tools to build an apartheid state and the ability to treat Palestinians the exact same way Jews were treated in Poland, Austria, and Germany.
We gave them $4 billion dollars every year so they could create illegal settlements to expanding their territory and use the military to suppress any resistance. When they were attacked for their land expansion efforts, we gave them more weapons and more bombs. We then built bases surrounding the entire Middle East, with Western influence that no most people in the region did not want.
But the biggest reason we were attacked on 9/11 was for our stance on Palestine and our acceptance of Israel’s treatment of the people of Palestine.
And what did we get out of it?
Then we invaded Iraq because they had WMDs and chemical weapons, but what our government failed to tell us is that Reagan supplied Saddam Hussein with chemical weapons during Iraq’s invasion of Iran. Then we supplied Iran with weapons while they were fighting against Iraq.
Israel came up with the idea to keep both Iran and Iraq fighting amongst each other for as long as possible and we made it happen.
Now we're fighting another war on behalf of Israel. We've already lost 14 Americans and spent $11 billion dollars. We’re currently giving Israel $18 billion dollars a year (since 2023) and now we are sending 2,220 ground troops to stop Iran’s nuclear capabilities even though Trump promised he obliterated their nuclear capabilities “like no one has ever done before” just 6 months ago.
We could lose hundreds, if not thousands of American troops. How much more blood do we have to spill for the security of Israel?
