Mods of r/tornado ban low effort warning posts, much to the chagrin of the users

Mods changed the rules for posting in r/tornado, banning low effort doppler/warning posts. Their rationale:

"This type of post is now banned. We will be banning users who post low effort content like this. We are not a "warning" service. We never claimed to be. These posts are just trash the clogs the sub from actual "good" content. Thanks! Edit: We will bring back megathreads and this will be where this content can be posted."

User responses:

Youre gonna ban that but leave the millions "Duh wot iz ur spookiest tornader???" posts? Awesome.

The warning posts were useful to me on days I wasn’t aware of anything going on

Bad call mods. If even one life is saved from a tornado its worth the traffic in the sub about tornados Mega thread if you want, but I know it was super helpful when I experienced a hurricane that the mods over there let us exchange info from across the web and people on the ground.

Can you also ban people that post parasocial Digital Meteorologist vs Max Velocity posts

Not everyone is sitting by a weather radio watching 13 tornado streamers. To those that say people don’t go to Reddit for tornado alerts, sure, but most people ARE constantly scrolling on their stupid phones, like we all are now. What’s the harm in a little heads up? I got my parents into their basement last year from 800 miles away because of a damn Reddit post that randomly popped on my feed.

A user then made a bad luck brian shitpost thats currently at the top of the sub, with more people complaining about the rule change
