is f-1 approval affected by non-STEM degree right now?

asking for masters, coming from global south country.

is it panic or will they reject my f-1 if I'm applying a non-STEM degree?

added context: when I was applying, uni recommended I apply for a double degree in my first semester, which would then meet my STEM requirements, and is what international students normally do when they get there.
