Full ride to local university or move across country??

I have the choice of going to my local university without paying tuition, but I would have to live at home and it feels like I’m stuck while everyone else would be start in fresh. I feel like I would be missing out on the college experience. The school is okay, not a bad university but not especially recognized for my discipline (engineering) either. Otherwise I could move across the country and go to a well respected engineering program but it’s so much more expensive, and I feel like I should save it. Advice??
