Debating trying guitar to help depression but have questions
I'm 43 and have spent the better part of my life fighting depression. Whenever I hit one of my really bad lows, the thought of trying guitar enters my mind.
This is the first time I'm actually considering it.
Before anyone asks, I do talk therapy and am working with my doctors to see if we can find any meds to help that we haven't tried already, but I want to try and do something on my end in the meantime.
I am on disability for other chronic pain/health issues, but I feel like if I have something to focus on or work toward, it could help.
Problem is, I don't know what kind of guitar to get.
I have smaller hands. I also live in an apartment so would like to get a guitar where I can wear my headphones and not bother anyone else.
I love the sound and look of an acoustic, but I don't think you can add an amp? to one of those for headphone use.
Could anyone point me in the right direction?
I don't care if all I end up doing is strumming or little plucks. I just need a way to keep my mind and hands busy that doesn't include creative outlets I've used before.
Thanks so much in advance.
