Heated Rivalry changed my view of sub/dom relationships

Fifty Shades had us all believing sub/dom relationships were scary torture freak shit with psychopathic men like Christian Grey lol.

Then watching HR, I realised that sub/dom relationships can be gentle, healthy and reassuring.

In Shane & Ilya, you can see what this dynamic fulfils in both of them. Ilya's portrayal as being a soft dom too is chef's kiss with the consent & perceptiveness.

With Ilya, Shane can let go and be pathetic (positive). With Shane, Ilya can assert control in a healthy way. Outside the bedroom, they're equals who like to bicker.
