Am I crazy for thinking this?
More and more, I think that the online gay foot community became less about community and more about competition, control, power, and money. It's everyday now I see some new guy posing as some hot shot and promotes it on social media. Either top, dom, or neutral.
The dom's are easy to understand. They usually keep a very clear motivation known. You know, "Stay under my foot, I'll give you a good time for a price. You know I'm good for it so don't think hard about it and I can show you the world." But it's never really a good time. Many of them are jerks and only want money. The subs though, are just, odd. To me what I think they're doing is their version of virtue signaling; "I just went on ANOTHER trip to New York to worship this OTHER hot guy who everyone wants. See it now or miss out." I can assure you, that right there is a manipulation tactic. Using flashy words to catch your attention and then appeals to your human desires and torments them with FOMO. Fear of missing out.
I've spoken to many people of many positions and they all feel a little hypocritical and inauthentic now. If the dom's are actually nice then they are misunderstood sweethearts. But the subs tend to be nasty. At least with what I experienced. They say they're all kind and stuff and when you want to stay under their wing, so to speak, they shove you away and say you're not apart of their circle and if you want in you have to prove yourself, often including financial requirements.
I don't know. This is obviously a very messy think piece and I can definitely do a lot better to collect my thoughts. But maybe not at this moment. What do you think? Is there truth to what I say or am I crazy?
