21M unsure whether to reconnect with someone I used to talk to (18F)

I’m a 21M engineering student in Germany. About a year ago I talked online for around four months with a girl (18F) from the UK. What made it special was that we had really good intellectual conversations and similar values. She even said she saw me as a potential future husband.

I eventually stopped the communication because I felt unsure. There were several concerns: distance (Germany–UK), cultural differences (I’m Yemeni and she’s Pakistani), and the fact that I’m still in the stage of building my life and career.

Recently I’ve been thinking about messaging her again, mostly because I miss the conversations and the intellectual connection we had. At the same time, I don’t want to reach out if I’m just feeling lonely or if it would be unfair to her.

For people who have been in similar situations, how would you approach this? Would reconnecting make sense, or is it better to leave things as this.
