Potty training hell
I am scared I made a huge mistake. I need to potty train my two year old by August. She will be three in October and is starting at a nursery school in September that she needs to be potty trained to attend.
We thought we could manage but now I’m having doubts. She was super interested for a few days but now tantrums and has accidents all the time if she is in underwear.
She is currently in daycare who put her in diapers which is making things confusing for her, I’m sure. Her room will work on potty training with her but they are going at their own pace and won’t push if she says no to wanting to use the potty.
Both my husband and I work full time and can’t just pull her from daycare for weeks while we navigate this.
The school we signed up for is also nonrefundable so event if she can’t go, we still need to pay. And we 10000% cannot afford that because then we’d need to keep her in her current daycare. I’m also 5 months pregnant due in July on top of this stress.
I am so scared. Please give me all of your potty training tips and tricks.
We have read the books, watched the specials, let her pick out her potty. Bring a toy with her. Read to her while she’s trying to go. Sing to her. Count. Model. I can’t tell if she isn’t ready or if it is just the inconsistency in her environment.
She is also having a hell of a time sleeping lately and I don’t know if it is because she is learning something new and ready, or if it is because she isn’t. Or something entirely unrelated. Or a combination of many things.
I feel like I’m failing her. I would have never signed up for this school if I knew we would be facing this roadblock but at the time of applying and agreeing, we were in a different place and had so much time. But now the clock is ticking and I’m scared.
