50 storytelling

Survivor 50

I'm only on episode 2, but I'm binging to catch up (didn't realize it's not on my provider by default... I hate Spectrum)

I would like to give a shoutout to production.

First in general.

Honestly, they are doing a good job at helping me like some of the newer contestants (since they have a heavy percentage of players from the recent players).

They chose a decent amount of vets to add to the show. Choosing more positively attributed vets was the way to go because they had those reflective moments, like the Rizzo business.

I'm doing mostly ok figuring out contestants I don't know. I think some of them are forgettable in the editing because they are likely early votes. I'm watching Charlie, and I forget he exists til he's back on screen.

It's interesting that there is so much emphasis on the older vets. It's still early, but it may not be a blowout the way the WaW felt (where many deemed "old school" were voted out quite early).

But the fact that production can film so much without getting into each other's way is really interesting. I am curious to know if they've implemented the opportunity of using drones for challenges. It seems logical to me.

I'm surprised with all the years and limitations they often have (being out in the wild), that we have barely seen camerapeople in any shots. (i'm curious how much they may edit that out)

And the storytelling they have this season. The whole story about Aubry's idol was a very interesting way to present that. They started with the tribe sus-ing her out, leading to nothing (unless my slight absence from the room missed that), and then we circle from her to a Christian story, and then back to showing Aubry getting the idol.

That was really cool storytelling. It could've been a little scripted, but it was fun to watch.
