AIO? My husband said my cosplay social media account was inappropriate and asked me to shut it down

❤️‍🩹 relationship

Hey everyone. Here's the deal. I (36F) am a cosplayer, and it's a big part of my life and was before I met my husband (35M). For context, he's a third-generation Asian American, but was adopted at the age of 3 so we have never experienced much of a cultural mismatch or had any arguments pertaining to race. About two years ago, I started a social media account just to post fun photos of myself and my cosplay and it's kind of blown up in the last two weeks. Part of me was hoping this account could reignite my husband's lust for me (we've had a dead bedroom for about a year) but it hasn't. Instead though, after a year of feeling rejected and disgusting, I finally am getting the validation I've been missing in my marriage. I have people liking my photos, telling me I'm beautiful, some even offer to help pay for my costumes or make requests. Meanwhile, my husband has never once displayed an ounce of curiosity about my passion. He didn't even follow the account until like two weeks ago when this started. I could be wearing the sexiest outfit in the house and he doesn't look twice. I know my body is that of an average woman but at least he could appreciate the effort I am putting in. So anyway, my husband started looking at my account for the first ever since it started blowing up and he is NOT happy. He says I need to shut down the account and thinks it's cheating. He says I'm dirtying myself by posting and this is not the woman that he married. He also finds it disrespectful to see me sexualizing/fetishizing Asian culture and told me to get a real hobby and start leaving the house more. I have refused to shut down the account, saying it's my body & my choice and he doesn't have the right to control my hobbies. I told him I finally feel sexy and confident again for the first time since I was a teenager. After the fight, I stormed out and texted him a few hours later that if he can't get over the account, he will have to leave me. Was I overreacting or standing my ground?

Also, just before anyone asks:

  1. My body confidence issues have nothing to do with our sex life. My husband used to be voracious in the bedroom. Now, he can't even get off his phone. I have always been happy to have sex even when I'm not feeling confident.
  2. We have been married three years. We met playing dungeons and dragons and just really connected over our interest and shared trauma of childhood bullying. Due to my body type I have never had much luck dating so when we met I was really flattered by his interest also, but I'm wondering if I was desperate.
  3. Yes, I am cosplaying as mainly Asian characters because that is what cosplay culture revolves around. I do strive to be as culturally accurate as possible and show it comes from a place of respect and admiration. It varies depending which AAPI country I'm interested in learning about at the moment. I'm also a history buff, so I like bringing that in when I cosplay. I want to emphasize that I deeply love and respect Asian culture and the people and in no way am I saying it is thankful that he is adopted. If anything, I wish it was the reverse! Sometimes I feel like I am more in touch with his culture than he is which must be very lonely.
