I can't anymore with SoT

Did they make this a game where it's practically impossible to get back into the game again? I have put 418hrs into the game and playing since The War Chest. I pretty much stopped playing after reapers rising and it just feels impossible to warm up or get back into the game with out filling up with spartan rage.

This is essentially just a me problem, but the community isn't fostered to care about new or returning players. If the game could get a system where returning players aren't punished for trying to get back into SoT would be really nice. Like matchmaking decay so I don't have to go up against someone with way too many hours in the game
