why can’t we like characters from bad media?

ok this MIGHT be a stupid question but i don’t understand why we can’t like the character designs and personality of characters that are from inherently bad intent media? liek, i like chocola from nekopara i think shes one of the most adorable anime characters, but people tell me that because the anime is bad i shouldnt represent or like her. but i havent even watched the anime and played the game. i watched like one episode and got bored, but i think the art is cute. why is it taboo to like a fanserviced character?
