Is French Quarter busy on Fridays & Saturdays?

Me & my fiancé are gonna be there in a couple months for a week + weekend. We definitely want to experience the night life and have fun. Is the French Quarter known to have a lot of people out during the weekend? I’m asking this for safety reasons because I want to be able to blend into crowds and have a lot of people around us. I know crimes can still happen in populated areas but I feel like if a lot of people are around it’s less likely to happen. I know to always watch my back and not get too drunk in new places. I’m also kind of an anxious person and overthink things so if I’m being paranoid let me know. I definitely want to have fun I’m just worried about being in the wrong place at the wrong time kind of thing yk?
